Title: Recommended GeForce 6200 drivers?
Post by: Benggal on April 15, 2009, 04:41:20 PM
Hey all.

Was just wondering if any among you have a GeForce 6200 in your machine and, if so, what drivers you're running on it.

My drivers are very, very old, but then so is the card.  I had some graphical nuisances with the release of Wrath, but I was able to ignore them for the most part.  Now, with the release of 3.1, more graphical glitches have appeared that are pretty much ruining my gaming experience.

The problem is that the last time I tried upgrading my graphics drivers everything went to hell.  Regardless of whether or not Nvidia says a new set of drivers is compatible with the 6x series, it often fails to be true.

If nobody has an answer for me I'll bite the bullet and try out the newest 182.50 drivers up on Nvidia's site and PRAY I'll be able to recover if everything gets all FUBAR'd on me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am running that card in an old machine I'm using for a PVR.  At the time of setup, I installed the latest drivers: 17?.??  Don't remember which exactly.  Haven't seen any problems in 6 months (since time machine built)

Thanks!

Actually, yesterday I went ahead and installed the latest (182.50) drivers and lo and behold, they actually worked.  All of the graphical glitches I've been cursing since 3.1 was released have been solved.  There is a minor flickering of objects far, far in the background, but it's nowhere near as pervasive and I barely notice it.

Now if only I get ALT+TAB out of the game without my screen going black for 5 seconds.  Both my desktop and game resolution are set the same, so I'm not sure what's causing that...
