Can't believe a topic hasn't already been made on this, but the MoP beta went live this week, which I find pretty exciting.
More information than you can possibly assimilate can be found, as usual, at MMO Champion (http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/).
It's looking pretty darned good so far.
I've been reading a lot about it on wow insider too. It looks fun.
If/when I get back, I'll look forward to throwing a few panda-steaks on the barbi. :o
I actually got a request to be a beta tester. will let you know what I find when I get a chance to get in.
I'm in as well. But again, pretty much everything there is to know is already posted on dedicated fansites.
At the moment not all of the new zones are available and things like cutscenes aren't in yet either. It's VERY early in the beta...
it has been fun so far, btw lock tanks FTW!!!!
Either they are trying to get me to come back to the game or there aren't enough people doing the Beta because I just got an invite to try the beta this morning. My husband got an invite a few weeks ago. Interesting......
Yea they just sent out 400,000 more invites. People with the annual pass are now all invited. Tell us how the new monk is if you end up playing :)
My monk is currently level 41, and so far I'm enjoying it. It's taking some getting used to, mainly because there are two separate pools (chi and energy) to draw from while fighting so I still use the wrong ability at times, but I think once they're finished monkeying around with the mechanics and abilities (everything is still up in the air) it will be a fun class to play with.
Right now it's the whole talent revamp that's having me a bit underwhelmed. I understand why they wanted to do things the way they're doing it, but as it stands you only get to choose talents every 15 levels, which is farrrrr too few, in my opinion. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it will be changing. The upside of that is that pretty much every spec you choose has most of the abilities built in that you would have chosen anyway (and some specs now get abilities from other specs that you wouldn't otherwise have been able to have).
Again, it's still very early in the beta, and the level cap is only 87 with only 2 of the 7(?) new 85+ zones open to explore, so I'm anticipating a lot of tweaks and surprises between now and release. They haven't included the pet battles, new dungeons, farming and a few other things yet, and I'm looking forward to trying those out as well.
It would seem that I was duped!!! The invite I received was spam with some legit links thrown in for good cause, but the main link (which shouldn't have been there) was a trojan... and not the fun kind!!!! So no Beta testing for me. :(
10 character slots per server, 10 character classes. Coincidence? I think not...
...but now they're adding an 11th class. I want to try out monk, I don't want to delete any of my Horde toons on Durotan, and I don't want my monk to be over on the Alliance alt server. Anyone heard if they're going to let you roll an 11th toon on a server, or am I just going to be all whiny over here?
I'm nearly 100% certain I read that they were increasing the number of characters you're allowed. This was a month or so ago, though, so who knows if that'll be changed between now and release. If it's possible for me to confirm it in the beta I'll post here and let you know.
Edit: Yes, you'll get an 11th slot if you buy the MoP expansion: New character slot (http://wow.joystiq.com/2012/03/19/mists-of-pandaria-yes-you-get-another-character-slot") Alright, it won't link to it directly but just do a search through that site or copy/paste the link into your browser.
