This time of the year always pulled at me to be creative. I had been an avid DragonCon go'er since 1988. I havn't been able to go in the past 3 years, but I did happen to find a webpage that had a pic of my old Dragon Mage costume.

It's the one about half way down the page, can't miss it. Took me about 3 months and 27 yards of fabric to make. The pic is not the best <cowl is too high> but I made glitter runes over the entire length of the hemm that got wonderful reveiws. I ended up winning Best of Show in the Hall Costume contest that year out of about 114 other contestants. I look at the pics and remember when I put time, energy and imagination into the costumes I made........
What have you made?
Wow, you told us about that one, but I don't remember ever seeing it before. Now I can see why you were so proud of it.
I remember some of the others that you worked on though. :)
I usually cheese out on Halloween. I buy costumes. Spirit Halloween FTW.
Well zan that's actually really awesome.
I would reply with costumes I wore but really I got nothing. I will keep looking for my umpaloompa picture though :)
Nice Zanz. I would never have the pateince to have created that. The best I have is going to a party when pregnant... painted my belly to look like an 8 ball and dressed up the rest of me as a pool stick.
Do you still have that costume? That is a keeper
Unforturnately, the mask deteriorated to the point it had to be thrown away. I don't know where the hood/robe is unless it's tucked away at my mother's in storage.
In 1992 I also went as Dr. Strange <Marvel Comics character> and won the 1992 Best of Show Hall Costume contest. About four years ago I went slightly cheesy cause I couldn't complete anything in time worth taking so I resorted to a muscle-man outfit with cowboy chaps, vest and WIDE brimmed hat.......and some fake ass-cheeks sewn onto the back for extra added laughs..........The bouncer at the door <a BIG black man about 6'5" with real muscles> took one look at it and started laughing uncontrollably..........then I walk by to he saw the back side as well. Within seconds, he was on the floor and laughing so hard he was losing he breath. THAT......was all worth it :D. For the rest of the night, that's all I got........grins from the front......bellowing laughs from the back. I didn't win first place that night cause it was audience approval and some sorority came in with CHEESY french maid outfits an schreeched for their girl. Had MANY people come up to me after that saying I should have won and that what they did was lame. <I agreed> but what can ya do? In any case, the next time apportunity allows, I will do the convention/halloween contest again. Just need to come up with an idea in the meantime. <CHEERS!>
For a few years I dressed myself up as a candy machine and sat in front of my grandmother's house dispensing for the trick-or-treaters. It was basically a giant refrigerator-sized cardboard box that I decorated to look like a vending machine. Worked great. I stopped doing it after a few years and apparently some kids cried because I was no longer there. :/
Here they don't really "do" Halloween. It's just started to catch on the past year or so, but not in the city. Who knows. Maybe someday I'll get to revive my role as a candy machine here on the streets of Amsterdam...
...On second thought that probably wouldn't be such a great idea.
I read your message Beng, and for some aweful reason, Sammy Davis jr.'s 'Candy Man' song popped into my head..........over..........and over.........and over. :D
/toast- Here's to the people who go the extra mile and effort to make times like these, special.
Zanz is a JP Cosplayer kekekeke I want to see your Naruto Costume K? THNX.
Wait, that's a mask?
(BTW, Quite awesome)
