I don't understand the spirit change, I can run OOM on boss fights even with my spirit if I'm not careful.

Spirit was garbage for so long until they finally buffed it now they're going back after they made a bunch of talents work off of it...

So I regen 881 mp5 when not casting, 311 while casting.

So I'm only 59 raw mp5 from gear (since this stuff scaled so terribly with the expansion)... which means that 822 mana regen is from my spirit.

My tool-tip says 814 mana regen from my 952 self-buffed spirit.  After a 40% reduction I'm at 488ish, what a load of crap.

Talents using spirit: Meditation, Spirit of Redemption, Spiritual Guidance... basically spirit keeps a priests mana pool big enough to heal through a long fight.  If we can't regen mid-battle like I do now (periodically stop for 10 seconds to get back 800-1k mana), we're very likely to go OOM.  Honestly this is a terrible change, it doesn't appear to be justified other than simply burning priests who are currently the least played class and they've stated before that healers they feel are the most balanced class.  If my priest starts going OOM mid-fight on boss fights I'm retiring her, I shouldn't have to re-gear/re-gem/re-spec for blizzards incompetance to end up in a worse position than I am after the time I've spent gearing.

And then they nerf druids.  Apparently they had to many hp and to much armor.  Because its not like having lower evasion or the fact that an extra 1 or 2% damage reduction vs. other tanks on bosses made them that much better.  Having armor and hp and being able to pump out reasonable damage is what made a bear tank.  Apparently now death knights are supposed to be the quick ones to high armor and warriors are to be the biggest hp and death knights doing the damage, guess they don't want bears around, not like I get to play mine anyway.

A few moot upgrades for my classes but nothing really to compensate for the losses.

Engineering gets forgotten with crap upgrades, they can't come up with anything original aside from a really cool motorcycle that they let anyone have.  Profession provides so little to its users and even less to others.

Inscriptions gets new stuff, big and handy because once again as soon as people have their glyphs they're done and the profession sits there not being used.  Maybe the respec will help, but honestly this profession is the biggest waste of time, random northrend cards for a good purple trinket while tailoring smithing etc. get multipul purples that just have cooldowns, I'd take a 20 hour cooldown on a part rather than a random 1-36 chance of getting what you need.

If my toons end up worse off this just seems like a good time to move on.  After spending so long gearing them up to have blizzard nerf them when they really aren't out of line with other classes (I know because I've healed bear tanks and been healed by priests and pvped against both on multipul classes) it just seems like a good time to move on.  Dual specs is cool but choosing between two bloated poorly made trees on my priest to be sub-par to other healers and garbage in pvp or speccing bear to be a less absorbant tank than others vs. something i don't want to play.  Overall this patch is crap, looking like a final straw.

Joy, aster is completely built around spirit...

I'm sorry but this seems like a terrible move, healers are already insanely short supplied, making them harder to play will just make the situation worse.  At what point is blizzard going to make the game just not require healers?

Uber hot chili recipe.

Use with caution or leave some of the more spicy ingredients out/replace if your not tolerant to hot things.

12 oz. Tomato Paste
16 oz. Tomato Sauce
3 - 24 oz cans of beans of your choice (I personally like pinto beans + black beans)
6 tablespoons garlic powder (I usually add more)
3 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons ground cumin (I usually add more)
2 tablespoons parsley
2 teaspoons oregano
dash of salt
dash of black pepper (I usually add more)
3 tablespoons hot chili powder (or any chili powder you like, more or less, I again usually add a little more)
1 chopped onion (I typically leave out because my husband hates them)
6 chopped up habeneros
6 chopped up Jalepenos (deseed if you like)
2 Mexican chilies chopped up
1 lb. sirloin (or another cut if you like something else)
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. ground pork
1 can of beer

Mix all the beans and seasoning together and slowly warm while at the same time cooking the steak and browning the pork/beef.  The steak doesn't need to be fully cooked or even cooked ahead of time if you don't want to since you'll boil it later on.  Saute the onion in some oil if your going to use one.  Once the meat is cooked add it into the batch and start warming it up while adding all of the peppers at the same time.  Mix and let it slowly come to a boil, typically it will look a little dry at this point, that's when I add the can of beer, maybe two cans if I need to drink one.  I personally found a strong ale tends to add some good flavor to this, but a can of bud worked out ok too.  Bring it up to a boil again after adding beer, if it still looks to dry a little water won't hurt anything, make it as watery as you like.  Keep it at a boil for about 45 mins and keep an eye on it to make sure the moisture doesn't get to low.

Serve with some cheese on top, or a LOT of cheese if its to spicy since the cheese will bring it down.

Enjoy, every time I've made this people have said how good it was.  Makes about 4.5 lbs. worth of chili total, so you can feed quite a few.

Public General Discussion / Re: TV/monitor problems

Yes, end result, this is what I have.

Video card has: 2 DVI out's, 1 S-video out

Monitors have: DVI in's, 1 each

TV has: basically everything except DVI... component, RCA, and 2 HDMI are in use, leaves me with VGA, S-video, and 1 HDMI left

So is there a cheap solution, because all i want is one of my outputs to mirror, technically its 3 monitors, but technically not.  TV + monitor 1 should both be getting the same feed, Monitor 2 should get the other feed.

So how exactly do I use a Y cable then with DVI?  I realize it won't work in my situation... but what the heck is it for if it won't work.

Also I don't think that the box link will work for my setup.

So its video card -> output 1 and output 2

Output 1 I want to be on both my monitor 1 and my TV, not a separate feed, the exact same thing
Output 2 Is to go to monitor 2

**Repost**
I posted this on a few technical support forums, so I'll post the same message here.  In the middle of a problem.
**Repost**

Alright, to start off I'll give a brief explanation of what I'm attempting to do.  I'm running dual monitors right now (identical), and I'm attempting to hook my HDTV up to have the same output as my main monitor.

Video Card = Powercolor X1950XT, has dual DVI out and an S-video which for some reason I can't find a cable to go to it.

The two monitors are plugged in straight DVI, no adapters.  I purchased a Y cable (one female to two males), and a 20 ft. (so it can of course reach my TV) DVI to HDMI cable.  Upon some investigation and some random combinations, I could get one to output onto the TV, but the monitor won't accept the input if its going through the Y cable.  I have noticed some large (1 inch in length), cylindrical knobs on my two cable monitors.  I'm assuming these are some sort of filter.  I do not have this on the cable going to the TV.

I can easily plug the TV into one output and a monitor into the other and it works fine, but the monitor won't go through the Y cable and still recieve a signal, if both the TV and monitor are plugged into the Y cable I get the same result of no signal.

I'm wondering if the Y has some sort of filter that I cannot see, or if the combination of a filter/no filter setup is causing issues.  Other possibility that I could think of is that the Y cable interferes with the signal before it reaches the filter, then the filter ruins it.

Really lost on this one, been attempting to crack the problem for a few weeks now.  Suggestions much appreciated.  Thanks.

Doubt it on any study.

Would imagine alliance of course draws the people who are more into a traditional fantasy world where they are the glorious good guys, while horde is kind of players who want to be a little different.

Honestly it kind of depends.  There's a lot of elf lovers out there and a lot of paladin lovers out there.  Since alliance originally had the cornerstone on the market is likely why they ended up with a lot larger population.

On the flip side if you look at past RPG's, humans and elves are always the highest populated race.  At least for every RGP that I've played these are always the most highly picked races.  Probably because we relate to them the most.

But as for a study, if you find one you're in luck.

Public General Discussion / Re: video card issues

Dunno when my computer became a laptop, the video card I got in there is honestly about as big as some laptops :)

Still periodically does this, still can't figure out why.  I have pretty damn good cooling in my computer, and its only done it since being in Kansas.

Cooling:
Crazy heatsink
Crazy video card heatsink
2x 120mm fans
4x 80mm fans
1x slot fan
ram cooler's
chipset custom heatsink
hard drive coolers on each of the 3 hard drives

I don't think that would even all fit in a laptop :)

No idea though, because my room is air conditioned at 65 degrees, and the ventilation right by my computer is open, and the case vents air out of the top and intakes on the bottom.  I'm setup to have a filled air case or whatever, meaning more air going in than going out.  All my high fans blow out, all my low fans suck in.

Really confident its not a heat issue.

I'd step in and try out some of that 25-man content, haven't seen it yet.  Can Tank DPS or Heal.

It stopped later that night, so I'm not sure what the problem was.  All hardware appears to be working correctly now, no clue what caused it.  I'm guessing it was something didn't load up correctly in my video drivers so it wasn't processing the information correctly, I did reinstall those as well but it didn't fix it immediately.

Either way, problem is gone now.

Public General Discussion / video card issues
July 23, 2008, 05:04:27 PM
So this is just starting within the last 30 mins or so, and I'm thinking the worst.  I'll start by saying nothing on my computer has changed, no software has been installed and nothing out of the ordinary has occurred.  I raided last night, and used my computer this morning, and turned it off over the daytime hours.  I turned it on tonight, and it ran smooth for a while, but while playing WoW i started experiencing terrible video lag, and either of my monitors would periodically go black or have big black lines show up randomly where the video wasn't showing up.

I did nothing to configurations and absolutely nothing was altered in my computer from last night and all of last week and even prior to that.  It goes in spurts, it runs fine for a few mins, then all the sudden I get serious lag for a couple mins, then it returns to normal.

My video card is the Radeon x1950xt built by powercolor, and I suspect that this is the issue.  I've updated my drivers and it is continuing to do this.  Anyone have any suggestions or could clue me in on something else to check?

I've done:
Reboot x3
Tested other games, same issue, occurs on desktop in folders also
Updated my drivers
running a virus scan
checking for spyware/adware now

Public General Discussion / Re: Dynamic Buildings?
June 25, 2008, 08:12:34 PM
Hmm, skimming through the thread as I've been gone for about a week now... seeing as I'm a civil engineer focused on roads and hydro my opinion might be kinda moot on this, but heres the issues I see that I'll throw out there.

Friction - Lube isn't just handy for sex, but when you have moving parts you have to keep them oiled/greased, or extremely well buffed at all times.  The amount of moving parts on this building would be extraordinary, and you would have to also institute breaks on them as well.  Accounting for momentum in high wind speeds would be a must, think of sitting on a chair, if you hold your arms out you move slower, but if u pull them in you spin faster, same concept, bigger scale.  What happens when everyone moves in to the center in the mornings to go downstairs?

Vibration - Moving parts always create vibrations, these can cause havoc on structural members, and could cause some deterioration.  Again while I'm not a structures person if I remember back to my college days concrete is one of the weaker materials to deal with vibrations due to microfractures... could be wrong here though.  Either way you have to dampen the vibrations, which could double as brakes.

Natural Disasters - Always a concern, but have fun figuring them out on a building that has internal moment forces everywhere.  Think about escape methods if you have a fire.  You don't want to send people down the elevator, but at the same if the fire is in the center of the building where the stairs are, what do you do if your above that floor?  A fire escape on the outside isn't feasible for a skyscraper past what?  7th floor maybe (not a structures person, back off)

Load Distribution - You have to balance it at all times, it's like a train load.  Trains tip over easily if improperly loaded, similar situation here.  You have to weigh each unit as it moves and have a computer calculating it at all times, not to mention a couple backups for that computer, and a couple back up power supplies for the entire building... a fast shutdown due to power outages or line breaks could bring the whole structure down.

In the end: Neat concept, don't recommend paying for it though :)  Bad part is they probably plugged the community and got them to vote to pass it and are probably getting tax kick-backs for a silly project that will cost probably 3 or 4 times what a normal high rise condo complex would cost, and probably won't bring in 3 or 4 times the annual tax revenue as a regular condo would.  Guess I'm just not an advocate of pushing the envelope, don't fix it if it ain't broke :)

If its RAM vs. video card vs. processor...

Since all of these are kinda low for you, I'd say either the ram of the video card would be best.  It's a tough call because they both play off of each other... and your computer is only as good as the weakest component.

So while I'm not going to give you an exact answer, decide if its the RAM thats slowing you down the most, or the video card... I'm sure others can be of more help.
