Post-Olympics depression.  *BAWL*

NBC's closing cerimony coverage was abysmal. They cut away from it to show Seinfeld's new reality show, then aired the rest of it 2 hours later, around 11:30 EST.
They should never be allowed to cover the Olympics again.

Benggal

Fortunately over here it was aired by 3-4 networks, which is just as well since outside of the USA you can't watch most of the online videos posted by NBC.

Kaelianna

I didn't get into them this year, usually I am all about the skating stuff.  I read a lot of the online blogs about their closing coverage and how sorry it was.  Maybe a different company will get the summer olympics and do a better job.

Buffing everyone because if i don't, all I hear is bitchin'  =D

I just hate how I know the result of everything before I watch it, or forced to watch it.  I work until like 8 or 9 at night so I DVR on one channel whichever is interesting.  I get excited to see like Men's hocky and throughout the day I hear the final results a ton of times and hear about all the highlights and then I no longer want to watch what I saved.  The worst part about it is it's only like a 4 or 3 hour time zone difference and the only crap that's "live" is figure skating or combined cross country skiing for 3 hours which I have 0.001% interest for.

Wolfin

Every time I got a chance to turn them on it was Curling. And I have no interest in watch people slide rocks over the ice.

Zanzier

My 2 cents worth? Could care less since whoever is on the board to allow some of these crap sports in the first place. Decatholon and the like, sure. The ones from 50+ years ago? Fine (no syn swimming, tho).

Was looking over what Wolf said and thought 'How could you watch curling and enjoy it?'..........then it dawned on me...........

Let that event be an 'obstacle' for say, the speed skating event. Would play out just like it always does, but put the speed track T-sectioning the curling area. If the curlers hit a speed skater: extra 100 points. If the speed skaters miss the curlers: extra 100 points.

opinions?

I happen to enjoy curling and am glad that it's finally being televised the past few Olympics.  And considering it's ONLY televised (outside of Canada) during the Olympics, once every 4 years, I think people bitching about it can STFU and KMA.  :P  Football bores me to death, and it's on TV constantly in the States oustide of the summer months, but I don't complain about it...I just watch something else.

Over here it's always soccer.  Same deal.

Zanzier

Oh well. To each their own. Frankly, ALL sports bore me to death. And if you don't count (auto) demolition derby, then there's not one I can think of that  I'd watch.

Wonder what sports would be like if you took away the comercials, the product placement, and the occasional drama report. The closest thing to an event I'd willingly go to would be a tailgate party on the outside. Do what ya'll do in the stadium. I'll sit outside the choas and enjoy the atmosphere there.

disclaimer: I see why soccer is so popular overseas and in S.America.................it's custom to have female streakers every now and again. ;D

I love soccer.  but its one of the 2 sports I was good at.  I will admit that watching it sucks.  Especially when its a male streaker.  Curling, shuffle board, and similar activities are only really fun when your playing them.   Now football I will watch at the college level.  NFL only the Superbowl and only if the Steelers are playing in it.   :o    Most sports are only fun when your participating watching them not so much.   But professional sports is BIG business so you will never get rid of them.   ;D

papalovebear

I think they should make each sport have it's own time slot so I can record what i Want to watch.  I had to record 5 hours of olympics just so I could see men's short track which was on 4 different nights for 30 minutes.  But I had ot fill my dvr for it and wasn't able to record the hockey games.

I like how it's televised in other countries like when I Was in germany 4 years ago they simply showed it 24/7 live during hte olympics and when it's not live they show what they missed when you were watching live stuff.  And their commercials were like 30 seconds not 5 minutes.

The other thing that pissed me off what every story they did was on Canada.  I'm watching the US team compete and represent America the last thing I care about is hearing about Canada's culture.  I'll go a couple hours north to Canada if I cared.  In a few weeks all the Canadians are coming to our beaches for the summer, and because of all their feel good stories it feels like they are already here!

Sorry dur :)

Durmage the Insane

See, part of being Canadian is that I don't mind that you rant on and on Papa. And it doesn't bother me that you don't want to know more about your northern neighbours (yes, it is spelled that way in Canada). After all. we Canadians have gotten used to that perspective coming from our US buddies. So don't apologize Papa, I understand completely.

Dur

PS - Bastard!

papalovebear

haha yea I keep my opinion on the boards because Canadians bring Maine a lot of money :)

And now that my firm's doing work in Canada I really can't complain
