That's what I thought, Papa.  For them to require you to use your new name to play it online would have overstepped the boundaries I mentioned above that their lawyers wouldn't let them.

Over 1850 pages in the thread now.  Over 37k replies.  It's averaging a page a minute lately.  More if you don't count all the posts in the thread that are getting deleted by the mods.

As far as news on it on and reporting on it by the media, take a look.

From the end of the BBC article:

"Mr Brand said that one Blizzard employee posted his real name on the forums, saying that there was no risk to users, and the experiment went drastically wrong.
'Within five minutes, users had got hold of his telephone number, home address, photographs of him and a ton of other information,' said Mr Brand"

Yah, I think I mentioned that on one of the first posts here.  Shortly after that it was announced that the blues wouldn't have to post their names....and then there was ANOTHER uproar over that...and the announcement was deleted/removed and another blue said that yes, they WOULD have to post their names.

Serious.  Shitstorm.

This goes a bit too far for my taste, but it brings the point into total clarity unless you're a complete moron:

I am so glad that they listened to their user base. I really think it was pushed upon them by Activision(re: Kotick). I wonder if the ESRB, which many filed complaints to, had anything to do with their decision. Or the fact that in some countries what they were trying to do was illegal. I will keep my account active for now to see how the rest pans out. I absolutely DO NOT condone them selling my personal information to make a few $$ with advertising agencies.

D'oh! They deleted my sigs just because I cancelled my account and they can't find my toons. Bastards. :P
